Alberta Health Advocate
The Alberta Health Advocate listens to Albertan’s concerns about their experience in the health system and supports them in finding ways to resolve concerns by providing information and support navigating health services. The Advocate’s Office promotes the Health Charter and works to empower Albertans to be effective advocates in their own health and health care.
The Mental Health Patient Advocate provides rights information to formal mental health patients and has the authority to investigate complaints about alleged violations of legislated rights. The Mental Health Patient Advocate is independent from provincial health agencies, hospitals, clinics, or treatment team.
