Restraints
AHS defines restraint as "any measure used to limit the activity or control the behaviour of a patient or a portion of their body". Four types of restraint are recognized within the Restraint as a Last Resort Policy suite; pharmacological, environmental, mechanical and physical. These practice resources are intended to promote safe, quality client care and provide decision-making support for Health Care Providers involved in restraint management within all streams of Continuing Care.
These resources are applicable to all Care Streams unless stated in the title of the document.
